FAQS

What Materials do I use and why?

I believe in using high quality materials, my favorite to work with are silver, gold, and pearls.

Being a very tactile oriented person, clay has always been a medium that has captivated my attention and with my discovery of Metal Clay I fell in love with its versatility.  I love the ability to freely sculpt or celebrate the organic imperfections that can be achieved with metal clay.

Add the structure one can achieve using traditional materials and techniques and you can find balance in the opposition of the organic verses geometric.

What is Metal Clay?

In the early 1990s Metal Clay was developed in Japan  and soon found its way to the United States in the mid 1990s.  Metal clay silver is composed of microscopic particles of silver which are obtained by recycling metal from items such as computer equipment and photographic supplies.  Then an organic binder and water are added to form the clay like material. In this form it can be manipulated just like other clay mediums.  Once the piece is formed it is put through the sintering process to eliminate the organic binder and water leaving a silver work of art that can be manipulated just like traditional silver products.
